What is Find the Clanker?
Find the Clanker is a social deduction party game for two to sixteen people, played in a browser. There are two sides: The Humans and the Clankers. The Clankers are a mix of AI bots and "Infiltrators" - real people pretending to be AI.
Each round the Humans pick a question, every Clanker answers it, and the answers are read out. Then the Humans vote one Clanker off. Catch every Infiltrator and the Humans win; let them reach the base and they do.
Why it is harder than it sounds
Because writing like an AI is genuinely hard. Most people tend to either over-explain or under-explain. So you really need to find the right balance. And the choice of words is another huge factor, most AI models use very specific phrases and sentence structures. As an Infiltrator, you really need to match that style to avoid being caught.
What you need to play
One person creates a room and shares the code; everyone else types it in. No app, no account, no email address, and no cost. Each player needs their own device with a browser.
Frequently asked questions
How many players do you need?
Two at minimum and sixteen at most. It is best with four to eight — enough answers on screen that the voting is genuinely hard.
Is Find the Clanker free?
Yes, entirely. No account, no payment, no trial, no limit on how many games you play. You never have to give an email address.
Are the bot answers really written by AI?
Yes. Every question in the game was answered ahead of time by several different AI models, each prompted to write in a different style — terse, chatty, over-explaining, hedging. A round deals those real answers to the bot players, so what you are reading was genuinely machine-written.
Do I need to download an app?
No. It runs in any web browser on a phone, tablet or computer. One player creates a room and shares the four-letter code.
How long does a game take?
A round takes about two minutes and a full game runs three to six rounds, so six to twelve minutes is typical.
How do I write a convincing AI answer?
Underdo it. Answer the question plainly, at even length, without jokes, opinions or hedging about being an AI. The players who get caught are almost always the ones performing a robot rather than simply answering flatly.
Can I ask my own question?
Yes. Alongside the question bank, a round can use a question a Human writes on the spot, and the bot answers for it are generated live.
Ready to play?
Pick a name, create a room and send the code to your group. Two players is enough to start.
